Ask one bounded question
For moon blocks, specify one decision, a time frame and an action, then form a yes-or-no question. These are hypothetical wording exercises. Is it a suitable direction to revise my CV this week before applying to Company A? names a concrete action. Will work, love and money all improve? combines several unrelated matters. Fortune-stick questions can allow more context while keeping one main topic.
| Question | What to check |
|---|---|
| Is revising my CV this week before applying to Company A a suitable direction? | One direction with a time frame |
| Will work, love and money all improve? | Several topics; select one first |

2. Read the two upward-facing sides
Each moon block has a flat side and a curved side. In this site's simulator, one of each gives Sheng Bei, two flat sides give Xiao Bei, and two curved sides give Yin Bei. Sheng confirms the direction of the current question; Xiao prompts a clearer question; Yin means the direction has not been confirmed. A Sheng result does not guarantee what will happen.
| Upward-facing sides | Pattern | Site interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| One flat, one curved | Sheng Bei | Direction confirmed |
| Two flat | Xiao Bei | Clarify the question |
| Two curved | Yin Bei | Direction not confirmed |
3. Match the number to its text tradition
Record the temple or stick tradition, check the number, then read the original verse. This site keeps Wong Tai Sin, Guan Yin and Che Kung texts separate. The same number can refer to different verses in different collections. Read a plain-language interpretation alongside the original and your question. Sik Sik Yuen provides its own Wong Tai Sin stick enquiry; this site is an independent resource. Follow the visited temple's instructions about moon-block confirmation and its required number of casts.
| Detail | Purpose |

Practice questions
How do Sheng, Xiao and Yin patterns differ?
In this site's table, one flat and one curved side give Sheng; two flat sides give Xiao; two curved sides give Yin. Read the upward-facing sides.
Does the same stick number always mean the same verse?
Different collections can use different verses. Check the temple or stick tradition together with the number and original text.
How do mistakes and reviews work?
Missed questions return at the end and become due in ten minutes. Correct answers move to review intervals of one, three, seven days and longer. First-answer accuracy keeps the original result. You can return to due questions after completing the course.
Can I continue in the other language?
Both languages share progress, first-answer results and review dates in this browser. A different device or cleared site data starts a new record. Practice is free and needs no account.
